SBY is a PC-based Sudoku program that far exceeds the functionality of the typical puzzle-solving program. It comes with hundreds of puzzles of varying degrees of difficulty and an electronic work sheet that supports meaningful puzzle solving techniques for intermediate and difficult puzzles. The program includes 15 exciting and unique features that are just not found in competing programs. The features include… (1) preserves the culture of Sudoku by thinking about the user and how Sudoku puzzles are played in the “real” world; (2) eliminates the use of the pencil and eraser by introducing the electronic Options Grid; (3) print large Sudoku solving grids with embedded Options Grids for solving away from the computer; (4) save and retrieve puzzles from the linked database; (5) solve puzzles from 5 different sources including the linked database, imported text files, manually-entered, randomly-generated by the computer and manually created by using a special computer function; (6) use text files to import and export puzzles to friends; (7) introduces a logic-oriented and mathematically-generated degree of difficulty rating system from 1 (easy) to 13 ( difficult); (8) evaluates all puzzles before solving to confirm that only one solution is possible and that guessing will not be needed; (9) the saving and retrieving of a puzzle-solving position to simplify back-tracking - both in memory and in the linked database; (10) a variety of configurable option that let the user define the programs behavior; (11) advanced embedded help messages that eliminate the need to access the lengthy printed user manual that comes with the software; (12) Sudoku tutorials embedded in the software and in a lengthy Appendix that is part of the printed manual; (13) a PC-based solution that does not require an Internet connection - perfect for use on a laptop when traveling; (14) the program does all the dirty work and leave the fun part of the solving exercise for the user.
