The database contain geodata of the Federal Republic of Germany with geo referenced towns, municipalities, town quarters, administrative units, postal codes, telephone preselections, nature areas and landscapes. The data contain coordinates for navigation and geo-coding, proximity searches and distance computations and for the mapping of nature area and landscape information. Quite often it is necessary to reference an address field e.g. like town or municipality name, postal code or telephone preselection, to corresponding geographical data and coordinates - a Geo Reference. The geo reference can be used for example to direct a customer to the closest store locations of a retail store chain by doing a proximity search. Another possibility it to determine distances between the different objects of the database tables with the included geo references. With the elevation data from a Digital Elevation Model the ground level height of each place can be determined. Often the knowledge is necessary about affiliations and relationships between data derived from different hierarchies. So it can be determined to which federal state, governmental area or governmental county a town, a postal code or a telephone preselection is associated. It is possible to assign a variety of natural and scenic information to each town or municipality. The program produces a set with seven parameters of the sapatial Helmert transformation valid for an specific area, with which then arbitrary coordinates of the area can be transformed from one reference system into another with high accuracy. The seven transformation parameters are computed with a set of individual identical points. Those are points with known coordinates in both reference systems. For the computation at least three identical points must be present. In practice you will be anxious to use more identical points than those three necessities. The program supports upto 10.000 identical points. Cartesian coordinates or geographical coordinates with ellipsoidal height using the ellipsoid dimensions are suitable. Identical measuring points of higher order can be usually inquired or referred by the official institutions for measurement. The necessary ellipsoid half-axis are available in the program for the selection from lists. There are altogether to determine seven parameters, i.e. three translations, three rotations and a scale constant. The parameters are calculated by the compensation according to the method of the smallest squares (L2 norm, Helmert transformation). Therefore must be dissolved a formula system with seven equations and seven unknown quantities. The coordinates of the identical points are tested intensively on outliers and deviations by different statistic procedures. The quality of the computed seven parameters of the Helmert transformation is documented by a residual matrix and by the computation of the middle, maximum and root mean square (RMS) deviations. The seven parameters are presented in the three most usual standards. Those are the Coordinate Frame Rotation, the Position Vector Transformation and the European Standard ISO 19111.

The German Coordinate and Reference Systems of the old and new Federal States, the 40 Prussian Soldner Land Registers, the German Lagestatus and exact Reference Systems of the German Federal States. Apart from this systems your own coordinate systems and geodetic reference systems can be defined with Helmert or Molodenski (Bursa / Wolf) parameters. For the area of the Federal Republic of Germany more than 2,7 million street coordinates with a coverage of 100% are available. The geo data offered here are in high-precision quality and are present in different coordinate and reference systems. Street coordinates or also called street section coordinates are meaning the summary of several postal house addresses to an averaged position on street or street section basis. The streetd coordinates are to be used with applications, which are developed to assign street oriented address groups exact positions. Street-exact geo data are on the one hand less expensive than the high resolution house-exact geo data, on the other hand they are more exact than the economically priced administrative geo data. The possible field of application is very various. E.g. own address lists can be enriched with geo references and visualized on suitable map material. The application scope reaches from information systems over navigation services, geo marketing, telecommunications and UTMS based services up to Web applications and tasks of the power authorities and security services. Another point of interest can be the establishing relationships between data derived from different hierarchies and levels. For example, it could be desirable to know to which federal state, administrative district and city a building belongs to. The coordinates of the streets are present as geographic coordinates, UTM coordinates and Gauss-Krueger coordinates. Geographical coordinates in degree notation are particularly suitable well for searches with Google Earth. Here is as an example an Internet URL with coordinates from the "Geo Data German Streets", which can represent the location of Killet Software Ing.-GbR: "http://maps.google.com/maps?t=k&ll=51.397363,6.450883&spn=0.002,0.002". The first value behind the identifier "ll" (lat / lon) is the geographical latitude, then the geographical longitude follows.
